Stroke

Stroke can affect anyone, at any age. If you or a loved one has had a stroke, recovery support is available.

About stroke

Strokes lead to many uncertainties, but you can count on the high quality of Alberta’s stroke programs. We work with community groups across the province to offer Albertans affected by stroke their best chance to return to everyday life.

We're here to help connect you with stroke services and community supports, as well as provide you with information about stroke.

Know the signs of stroke

Face: Is it drooping?

Arms: Can you raise both?

Speech: Is it slurred or jumbled?

Time: Call 9-1-1 immediately

FAST is a simple way to remember the main symptoms of stroke. Recognizing these symptoms helps you know when to call for medical help. If you have any of these symptoms, even if they go away quickly, call 911 or other emergency services right away.

FAST in other languages: French (Signes de l'AVC) | Mandarin
